Oh my! If you do not live in New Orleans and want to taste a little bit of it, this is the dish for you.  It is so full of flavor. Tender meat, sauce full of all these flavors and spices, and over grits... a southern staple. 
Doesn't get much better than this! 

Ingredients: 

  • Canola oil for frying

  • 6-8 flattened round steaks

  • 1 cup flour

  • 3 tbsp slap ya mama cajun seasoning

  • sauce:

  • 1 cup diced onion

  • 1 cup diced celery

  • 1 cup diced and seeded green bell pepper

  • 2 tbsp flour

  • 1 can 14oz diced tomatoes

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 2 tbsp dry red wine

  • 1 tsp slap ya mama cajun seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp ground thyme

  • 1/4 tsp ground oregano

  • 1/4 tsp basil

  • 2 tsp garlic powder

  • 4 bay leaves

Directions: 

  • First, fry the rounds steaks

  • Heat the pan with canola oil (enough to coat the bottom)

  • Mix 1 cup flour with 3 tbsp slap ya mama cajun seasoning

  • Batter each side of the round steaks and place into hot oil

  • Fry each side until golden

  • Remove steaks from the pan and set aside

  • Place onions, celery, bell peppers into hot oil

  • Cook down until soft

  • Add 2 tbsp flour to coat the vegetables

  • Add the diced tomatoes

  • Add the beef broth and wine

  • Cut the round steaks into strips and place back into pan

  • Add all other seasonings and allow it to cook down on low

  • Cook grits according to package

  • Serve over grits
