peppered steak

I love Asian food. I love eating out at places that serve it and I love coming home and making it. One of my favorite dishes is peppered steak. It’s just so simple, lets the beef shine and keeps the heat.

Ingredients:
Sesame Oil
3/4 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp sugar
3 tbsp cornstarch
3 tsp garlic
1 tsp ginger powder
1 medium Onion- diced into 2 inch squares
1 red bell pepper- diced into 2 inch squares
1 green bell pepper- diced into 2 inch squares
2 lbs of beef (I usually get a cheap cut such as top round for this, a trick to make it tender is to pour some baking soda on top of it and let it sit for about 15 minutes, just remember to wash it off before doing anything with it!)
Directions:
Slice beef into size you want- I tend to do like 3 inch strips, it just works for my family
Mix cornstarch, sugar, ginger, garlic, soy in a bowl
Allow your beef to marinate in it for at least 15 minutes
Heat your wok or large skillet
Add some sesame oil to cover the bottom of the pan
Add beef and sear it
Take out the beef and put on a plate
Add onions and bell peppers, cook down for a few minutes until soft
Add beef bake to pan to finish cooking
Serve with rice
